The Who's Who of the Whodunnit

It’s the film everyone is talking about, Knives Out is an absolute blast of a murder mystery, that follows the investigation of Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) after he suspects foul play in the death of Harlan Thrombey.

But when everyone in the family is a suspect, let us give you the low down on the key players and explain who’s who in this whodunnit.

1. Harlan Thrombey

This super-rich renowned crime writer had just celebrated his 85thbirthday and marked the occasion with a party at his mansion with his family. There’s not much else to say because, well, the guy is dead, but we will say he has a flair for drama.

2. Linda Drysdale (Jamie Lee Curtis)

The totally fierce self-made daughter of Harlan packs one hell of a punch and pulls off some of the best one-liners of the film. Married to all round waste of space Richard, and mother to creepy son Jacob, she’s definitely one to keep a close eye on. Oh, did we mention she’s completely self-made too?

3. Walter Thrombey (Michael Shannon)

What can we say about Walt? Well, he’s a bit of a sap. Completely reliant on the family’s financial support, he works for Harlan and is an entitled slime ball who shouldn’t be trusted. We don’t dig his weird beard either.

4. Joni Thrombey (Toni Collette)

Widow to Neil Thrombey, Joni is Harlan’s daughter-in-law and mother to moody teen, Meg. Since his son’s death, Harlan has made sure neither Joni or Meg have ever gone without and has even been paying Meg’s eye-wateringly expensive school fees – well they do say you can’t put a price on knowledge.

5. Richard Drysdale (Don Johnson)

Let’s cut to the chase, the man is racist, aggressive and an all-round bad egg, you don’t need us to tell you not to trust him. Husband to Linda and father to his equally dodgy son Jacob. Don’t be a Richard, kids.

6.Hugh ‘Ransom’ Drysdale (Chris Evans)

Even with his impeccable choice of knitwear, charming good looks and devilish smile, this spoilt brat is shady. Dogs don’t like him, he has a creepy nickname, heck- he even missed his own grandfather’s funeral.

There are plenty of other odd folk in the film too; the grandma, the dogs, even the nurse, in fact we’d be here until the end of time if we listed them all. But all we will say is, you won’t see it coming when it’s revealed. Oh, and don’t be a spoil sport, keep the secret yeah?.
